SAVING AFRICA’S VULTURES

They glide effortlessly for hours on end. With their perfect eyesight they can spot a meal 6 kilometres away. In ancient Zulu culture they were called izingwony zenkosi, the Birds of The King. Where there are vultures, the ancients believed, there is safety, there is purity, there is life. And yet these majestic sky warriors are in danger. Conservationists say we are currently facing an African vulture crisis, and we could see the extinction of African vultures in our lifetime. But thanks to ground-breaking research in South Africa, there is a glimmer of hope.
